MIDI Note Numbers

Look up the MIDI number of any note (middle C = 60, A4 = 69) and vice versa — octaves −1 to 9 with scientific pitch names.

Notes about MIDI numbering

MIDI note numbers run from 0 (C−1, 8.18 Hz) to 127 (G9, 12,544 Hz). This chart uses scientific pitch notation where middle C = C4 = 60 — the convention used by most notation software and by this site. Some DAWs (Ableton, FL Studio) label middle C as C3 and some Yamaha gear as C3 too; the numbers are the same, only the octave labels differ.
